Walk through Baltimore

Well, today Sarah and I had an adventure. Several, actually. First, after running into our old friend Chris again at the conference, Sarah and I decided to try to get the photo he described of the Ernst & Young sign, with the moon rising behind it and sailboats in front. Either Chris was drunk when he saw this sight, or he saw the opportunity to mess with the blonds. In any case, we started out.

First, we crossed a bridge that swayed a bit as we crossed. Sarah claimed that it made her want to puke. A minute later, we passed the dragon boats:

Sarah decided she *had* to ride the dragon boat. Then she realized you had to wear a life jacket, which was apparently a deal breaker.

We continued to look for the elusive EY logo, and at this point had reached Harbor Place. We stopped in at the Visitor Center, and actually asked the guy at the counter, who, to quote Sarah, looked at her like she had horns growing out of her eyes, if he knew where the EY sign was. Obviously, no, but he handed us a phone book, and we found that the office was on Charles Street, which Sarah circled on the free map she found. Meanwhile, I had called Carey to see if she could look up the office location on the home page, and she got all uppity, commenting that she was there all by herself, since members of the release program and her team members were too busy travelling the globe to come into the office. Sarah decided to make it up to her by getting her some swag. We also snagged some for Greg.

We continued on a significant distance, 1.5 miles to be exact, until we gave up and decided that Chris was hallucinating. Fortunately, Sarah was wearing more sensible shoes than she had been in Boulder. In any case, we walked back around, and were heading to dinner, when we saw the elusive sign:

You can almost see the hotel in the background. After walking 3 miles for no reason (except that I only need 483 more steps today). Here is a photo of the distance we travelled (hotel is behind us, circle on left indicates the point where we gave up, circle on right is the place where we finally found the stupid sign.

Or, to show it another way:

In any case, Sarah was swearing vengeance on Chris for over-dramatizing the spectacle so that we were literally looking for a logo over the water with sailboats. I personally suspect that when he hears the story, he will laugh at us for being morons and taking us literally. I may tell him to pretend for a minute that we're still the client, and to respond accordingly - I suspect we'd get a different answer :)

So, Sarah and I went to get crab cakes, with Greg's instructions to order "last week's special." We were seated outside, overlooking the harbor, but a random wind came up out of nowhere, and our friendly waiter, Jim, moved us inside. There we were greeted by Carrie, who was going to be part of our "wait team" this evening - it was going to be a team effort. They punctuated this statement by standing with their arms around each other. We said that would be fine, and Carrie and Jim proceeded to be the perkiest "wait team" one could ever imagine, with Jim at one point sending Sarah into gales of laughter when he did a chinup on the door frame on his way into the kitchen. Jim and Carrie need to lay off the happy pills.

As we were leaving (after enjoying some wine as well as our crab cakes), we passed Chris, who was apparently headed for dinner, and I muttered to Sarah that we should recommend Jim and Carrie to him, which set us both off. Again.

In any case, we returned to the hotel, where I got to get back to my wonderful view of the city from my room:
